Working with Becky was a smart decision. As a first-time dad I had no clue what I was doing. Having Becky there allowed me to stop worrying if I was doing the right thing and just be there for my wife during labor. Becky had lots of good suggestions for helping make my wife more comfortable. She helped us ask for what we needed from the hospital staff since she knows so much about how things work there and what's available.

Hiring Becky Bricker as our Doula was among the best decisions my husband and I made for our birth. As first time parents, we were anxious and unsure what to expect both physically and mentally. Becky stepped in with her vast knowledge and expertise of birth, breastfeeding, and postpartum care. It was a relief to have an experienced professional to guide us through it all. Each appointment with her set our minds further at ease and better prepared us for our natural birth. We never felt rushed with Becky. She made time to answer each question my husband or I had with warmth and kindness, and she made it a point to check in with us through the pregnancy and postpartum. Her knowledge of the Spinning Babies techniques for optimal baby positioning helped my baby get in a better position and turn, which helped us avoid a c-section. Becky offered exceptional support not only to me, but also to my husband. Without family in town, I was afraid of being alone in labor if my husband needed a break, and my husband was looking for ways to better support me. She set that fear completely to rest and made herself available throughout my entire labor, left only after we were completely settled after delivery, and both taught and assisted my husband with many techniques to support me in labor. She guided us through the birth process and explained what was happening as it happened, what would be next, offered hands-on support, and provided endless encouragement to us both. She was able to meet both my husband's and my needs before we knew the need existed. Becky is also gifted in Craniosacral therapy (CST) for pregnancy and infants. I saw Becky around 36 weeks for a CST session and had the best night of pain-free sleep of my entire pregnancy! She also came to our home when our newborn struggled to breastfeed on one side. Her therapy helped him feed better on both sides, not just the side he had been having trouble with. You give birth only once or a few times in your life, and it is so worth your time and money to hire a professional to make labor and birth the best possible experience. Becky is that professional, and you should hire her without hesitation.

I really loved Becky. I have three kids- my first was long labor w/ an eventual c section with no doula, my second a long labor but a VBAC with a different doula and my third was a quick but intense VBAC with Becky as my doula. Before hiring Becky I checked around a lot. Choosing a doula is serious to me- labor is such an up close and personal thing. I was surprised to find quite a few of my mama friends had used her and lots had had her as a L&D nurse during their births. They all said nothing but good things! One friend said Becky could tell the husband was getting on my friends nerves so she tucked the mama in the bathtub with battery operated candles (Becky brought them) in the dark - which she really needed. A favorite part of meetings with Becky was the encouragement to bring whatever would help me relax and feel at home. Calming playlist, twinkle lights, flowers (she once had a client who was getting induced and brought flowers to arrange in vases while she waited), etc. She is really great at anticipating what you need. I don't know if you are planning a hospital birth or a home birth. Since Becky is a nurse and worked in L&D for decades she has a leg up on all other doulas I have interacted with. She knows the staff at the hospital and they know her, she knows when to try different positions, what positions, she has the doctor and midwives number on speed dial, etc. I seriously would have had my baby at home or in line at the ER reception in it hadn't been for Becky's experience in noticing my really quick transition and knowing just what to say when we got to the hospital. (She called ahead and gave L&D the rundown so they were ready for me as soon as the elevator doors opened) During labor and delivery Becky was very good at connecting with me. She tapped my leg and encouraged me to take a breath so I didn't tear ( it worked!). She helped with breastfeeding, gave us space after delivery, was very mindful about her presence, she helped me by advocating for me when I had requested not to have a male resident in the delivery room, let me know my baby was purplish just because she was born so fast and was fine, helped me advocate for myself with the hospitalist pediatrician for my wishes (info she wouldn't have been able to interpret charts if she wasn't medically trained). I chose to take my placenta home for encapsulation. ( which ...I wouldn't really recommend as I didn't notice too much of a difference ) Becky offered to take it home and put it in her fridge then deliver it to me when I got home. Just so I had less to worry about. If that's not above and beyond I don't know what is . I feel where Becky shines is during labor. (And all the husbands I know who have had a birthing experience with her have loved her) she has this quiet light supportive energy. Zero ego, no pressure and completely open to whatever kind of birth you want. She is also trained in and offers craniosacral work to her clients. Although I am open, this wasn't really for me. (I don't even like massages!!) she was totally fine with it. The fee is steep but completely worth it. She filled out all of the insurance paperwork for me to submit to get reimbursed for her doula payment in case my insurance would do it. Included notes, etc. ( my insurance doesn't cover doula services either) I really can't say enough good things about our experience with Becky! She is worth it.
